David passed away Feb. 10, 2012 at the VA Hospice Center in Vancouver. Dave was the second son born to Jim and Sally Malone on Sept. 25, 1956 and was a life-long resident of North Portland, attending Holy Redeemer Grade School and Central Catholic High School.

Upon graduation, Dave entered the Marine Corps. He served from 1974-1998 as both an active and reserve member. During active service, he was on embassy duty working in intelligence positions at the White House, Jakarta, Indonesia and Canberra, Australia.

In 1985, Dave married fellow marine, Melissa VanTassel. They had two wonderful sons, Raymond of Portland and Eric of Gilbert, Ariz. They later divorced. Dave spent his career in the transportation/trucking industry, working for Potter Webster Company and Market Transport LTD.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother; as well as siblings, Bob and Mary. Along with Raymond and Eric, he is survived by his sister, Molly Mannenbach (John); and brothers, Mike, Dan (Robin) and Paul (Amy).

Recitation of the Rosary will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Riverview Abbey Funeral Home, Directors.
