Allene Elizabeth Keffer Clark was born on March 4, 1910 at Stinson in Carter County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of John and Minnie Hensley Keffer.

Allene was married to Horace C. "Joe" Clark, and she was the mother of eight children. She was a graduate of Morehead State University in Morehead, Rowan County, Kentucky. Allene was a gifted teacher who taught at several one-room schools throughout Carter County, Kentucky. She also taught fifth-grade at Star Elementary for several years. After her long teaching career, Allene spent her retirement being a friend and mentor to many in her community. She was a strong, loving, caring woman who always wore a smile. She was known for her generosity and wonderful positive spirit.

Allene died at her home on May 25, 2001. She is buried next to her husband in the Clark Family Cemetery at Stinson in Carter County, Kentucky.
