The funeral of Jacob Roland took place fromt he residence of Wm. Stieff, his late home, Mineral Spring road above 15th.
Sevices were held at the house Rev. F.P. Lehr officiated. The remains reposed in a walnut coffin and were attired in a black shroud. On the left brest was pinned a beautiful badge of the G.A.R.A delagation from Kelm post, No. 76, attended who acted as pall-bearers, Interment at Aulenbach's cemetery. Hunter Henninger had charge. Dainel and Jefferson Roland, brothers the former from Emicksville and the latter from Tremont, and a sister , Mrs. Henry Hillagas of Harrisburg. Also John A Roland a nephew of Emicksville attended. Deceased served 3 years in the war as a member of the First Penn's Cavalry. He died on Sunday at 6 a.m.
Jacob Roland was in the Civil War in the Cal 1st Penn Cavalry Enlisted July 30 1861 and discharged in 9 sept 1864 could not read or write signed his name with an x his children were Jacob Jr, Daniel, Rebecka, Ellen, and George
