Birch W. Whiting, 84, died yesterday at a nursing home at 1500 W Truman road, Independence. He was born in Clitherall, Minn., and lived here four years. He was a retired missionary for the RLDS church, working primarily in Minnesota and Saskatchewan. He had been a missionary near Butler and Rich Hill, MO 15 years before moving here. Surviving are his wife, Mrs.
Abbie A Whiting of the nursing home, a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Bown, 1111 W Twenty-sixth, Independence; three sons, Donald W. Whiting, 426 W Forty-sixth Terr., Max H. Whiting, Chicago, and Ralph E. Whiting, La Grange, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. Grace Kinber, Battle Lake Minn., and Mrs. Fannie Grover, Fergus
Falls Minn.., a brother, Delbert A. Whiting, Holden, Mo. and four grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday at the Speaks chapel; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
