Memorial services are pending for Marie C. Hersey, 86, of Flagler Beach, who died February 13, 2012 at Dr. Gaston J. Acosta-Rue Center For Caring in Jacksonville, Florida. The services will be at the Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S.W. 102nd Ave., Bushnell, Florida. Mrs. Hersey was born December 31, 1925 in Nashville, TN to Ewing Chadwell Creech and Lily May Creech, moving to St. Augustine shortly thereafter. Mrs. Hersey lived in many places, but liked to call St. Augustine her home. She was a devoted wife for 59 years to her predeceased husband, Harry B. Hersey, Jr. She is also predeceased by her sisters, Lucy Ellen Tringali and Sarah Ann Meeks, both of St. Augustine; her mother, Lily May Perry of Orlando and Ewing Chadwell Creech of St. Augustine. Marie was also a caring, loving mother who helped raise two sons, Robert W. Hersey of Jacksonville and Kent T. Hersey of Water Valley. Mrs Hersey is also survived by her grandson Robert W. Hersey, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl and her brother James (Baby Boy) Creech of Perry, FL. Mrs. Hersey enjoyed traveling, visiting with friends and fishing. She was a great cook with multi cultural talents. During the last year, Mrs. Hersey had enjoyed visiting Rolling Hills Baptist Church of Jacksonville. She had developed a friendship with members of the church and the Pastor Ronald Beasley who visited her throughout her stays in different facilities throughout north Florida. Memorial donations made be made in her honor to Rolling Hills Baptist Church, 840 Permento Ave., Jacksonville, Fl 32221.
