The Weston Independent, Tues. 24 Feb. 1903:
BATTEN, DICK - Berlin Feb. 18: One of the oldest citizens died Monday, and will be laid to rest in the Morrison cemetery today by the side of his wives, who preceded him in death years ago. Uncle Dick Batten was in his 91st year. Leaves several children.
