Civil War Veteran. Private in Co. O 23rd Pennsylvania, Volunteers, "Birney's Zouaves", mustered in April 19th 1861, transferred in March of 1862 to 61st PA Co. H in which he served faithfully until the end of the War. Married his wife Pheobe in 1865. He was a Conductor of a Horse car and a clerk in his working career. Born in Norristown, PA.
