Hazel L. Strawder, 85, of 1511 Faircrest Street SW, Canton, died Saturday morning, December 5 in Timken Mercy Medical Center of an apparent stroke. Born December 18, 1906 in Carroll County, she was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Luejetta (Lewis) Hibbs. She lived in Stark County for six years, moving there from Perrysville. She was married July 19, 1926, to Roda Bennett, who died May 30, 1929; she later married Dee Strawder, who died April 1, 1988.
Survivors include two sons, Andrew Bennett of Cummings, Georgia and Robert Strawder of Minerva; two daughters, Mrs. William W. (Bessie) Mercer, Jr. of Canton and Pauline Strawder of Louisville; one brother, Harry Hibbs of Carrollton; one sister, Mrs. Donald (Dortha) Roudebush of Carrollton; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Martha Carson, also preceded her in death. Services were held Tuesday, December 8 in the Allmon-Dugger Funeral Home at Carrollton. Rev. Paul Hamilton officiated. Burial was in Kilgore Cemetery.
