CSA 2nd Lt. William McAdams Cooper was the son of Col. Robert Melville Cooper of Lewis Co., Tn.
Beloved husband of Louisa Elizabeth (Eliza) Toombs buried at McClain Cemetery, Lewis Co., Tn.
Beloved brother of Albert Gallatin, Paris, John Hamilton, Eleanor Jane Cooper Houser, James Carlisle, Mary Catherine Cooper Williams, Henry Augustus, Robert Theodore, Thomas Simpson, Sarah Elizabeth Cooper Pickard, Alexander Duval, Samuel Gwin, Leander Bruce, and Alfred Theodorick Cooper.
Company "A" 48th (Nixon's) Tennessee Infantry. Died at Tupelo, Mississipi.
It is written in a reference book that, this ancestor of mine enlisted in the Confederate Army. The day he left for service his wife and children walked him down the dirt lane from their home, to the dirt road of his long journey, the last time to see his family again. His wife Eliza Toombs Cooper was expecting a child at the time. Willaim McAdams Cooper is my 5th great grandfather.
