Mrs. J.S. Moore, 84-year-old lifelong resident of the Woodleaf community of Rowan county, died at a local hospital about noon Tuesday following an illness of three days.
Mrs. Moore was the former Mollie Pope of Rowan county and was born April 24, 1869, a daughter of the late Henry L. and Laura Yount Pope.
She was married October 8, 1885, to James S. Moore who died in November, 1943.
Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Moore has been making her home with different members of her family.
She is survived by eight children: Blake O., of Salisbury; J. Summers, Ralph G., and Bovee S. Moore, Mrs. O.S. Click, Mrs. W.S. Wetmore and Mrs. Watson Whitmore, all of Woodleaf, and Mrs. S.E. Belk of Elon, Va.
Mrs. Moore is also survived but three brothers and one sister: D.D. and G.H. Pope of Woodleaf; J.O. Pope of Greenville, Miss., and Mrs. J.A. Brawley of Mooresville. She had 33 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was a life long member of Unity Presbyterian church at Woodleaf, from which funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 o'clock. Rev. J.H. Armfield, pastor of the church, and Rev. Mr. Metz of Franklin Presbyterian church will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be removed from Bunch Funeral home to the home of her daughter, Mrs. O.S. Click at Woodleaf, at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
