Glendon Neil Ashley, 67, of Big Bend, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2002, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.

He was born in Burning Springs, the son of the late Jess G. and Nellie McCroskey Ashley. He was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a lifetime member of Disabled Veterans of America, Parkersburg, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Surviving are his wife, Elma Kathryn Whited Ashley; one son, Glendon Guy Ashley of Glenville; one daughter, Glenna Kay Ashley of Carrollton, Ohio; also Glendon Neil Ashley, Jr., Joyce and Patricia; one brother, Niles G. Ashley of Elizabeth; and six grandchildren.

Services were scheduled Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home, Elizabeth, with Pastor Bryan Groves and Rev. David Morris officiating, and military honors at Hill Grove Cemetery, Wirt County. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the funeral home.
