ELK CREEK — Shawn M. Dixon, 21, of Elk Creek, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999, at Albany Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 7, 1977, in Oneonta, the son of Steven and Dawn (Fling) Dixon.
Shawn was a lifelong area resident, graduating in 1996, from Schenevus Central School and BOCES in Milford. He graduated second in his class. In 1998, he graduated from the State University College of Technology at Delhi.
Shawn was employed as a mason for M. Lorette & Son General Contractor's in Maryland, for the past year. He also tended bar at Babcock's in Wells Bridge on Saturdays.
Shawn's bright smile, sense of humor and love of life will be truly missed by many.
He is survived by his parents, Steven Sr. and Dawn Dixon of Schenevus; two brothers, Steven Dixon Jr. and wife, Brenda, of Schenevus and Scott J. Dixon of Schenevus; his fiancee, Diane Kowalczyk and her parents, Stan and Jane of Otego; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Robert and Beth Dixon and Charles and Marion Fling.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at the Schenevus United Methodist Church, Main Street, Schenevus, with the Rev. Bonnie McGraw, pastor, and the Rev. Judith Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, officiating. Burial will take place in the Elk Creek Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours will be Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with the family in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, 10 Arch St., Schenevus.
