Kathleen (Harrington) Attaway, 93, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Kathleen's family invites you to celebrate her life at a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, with burial following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A visitation will begin at 12 p.m. prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64105. Kathleen was born July 21, 1918, in Kansas City to Hilda Marie Pollock and Patrick Joseph Harrington. She grew up in Holy Cross Parish, and graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1935. She was married 53 years to the love of her life, Robert H. Attaway. Kathleen worked at the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement in 1984, after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and a former Eucharistic Minister and also belonged to the St. Thomas More Friends, the Red Bridge Lioness, the Red Bridge Social Club, the Garden Club and the St. Joseph's Medical Center Volunteers where she worked in the gift shop every week for 15 years. She had also served as a Hospice Volunteer. Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandsons, Patrick Spaulding and Brandon Beckman; sisters, Rosemary Wittman and Patricia Largo and her brother-in-law, Russ Hill. She is survived by her children, Robert J. Attaway (Denise Gonzales), Yvonne Spaulding (Scott), Terri Beckman, (Scott) and Cecilia Harris (Joe); grandchildren, Jay Spaulding, Marcy Teasley (David), Megan Barrow (Scott), Ian Beckman (Jill Wagner), Joseph Harris; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Courtney, Emmy, Brennan, Bradley, Kayla, Amanda, Jadyn and baby girl Barrow; sister, Eileen Hill; brothers-in-law, Michael Largo and Clem Wittman; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her life was spent in helping, loving and giving to others. Her greatest gift to her children was to share her deep faith.
