"Henry H. Calvin, 78, died of complications early Wednesday morning at his home on the Garfield-Washingtonville road in Green township, where he had resided since 1880. He had been ill for several weeks. Born in Forest, Hardin county, Ohio, Sept. 23, 1872, he was a son of Phillip and Mary Calvin. A farmer, he was a charter member of the Mahoning County Farm Bureau and active in horticultural circles. Mr. Calvin was the last surviving member of the "Boy's Quartette," a group of men who made many public appearances in the area. A member of the Greenford Christian church, he served many years as chorister and elder. surviving are his wife, the former Amanda Cole of Washingtonville, whom he married in 1898; two sons, Paul H. of Burton, Ohio; and Mark E. at home; a brother, Oliver R. of Cleveland; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Lehman of Green twp. and Mrs. Carrie Good of R.D., Columbiana, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Franklin Baxter, pastor of the Columbiana Christian church, will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the Arbaugh-Pearce Funeral Home in Salem, where friends may call Friday evening.
"Island - Jan. 24th – Funeral services for Henry H. Calvin were largely attended on Saturday at the Christian church in Greenford. Relatives present from a distance were Oliver Calvin, son James and daughter Lillian, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Shima, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bonnie and Mr. and Mrs. Ira Cole, Cleveland; Paul Calvin and family of Burton; Mr. and Mrs. Will Morgan and daughter Anna, Mr. and Mrs. Will Naylor and daughter Kay of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Cole, Mrs. Faith Cole and son and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Cole of Battle Creek, Mich.; Mrs. Lucy Riffer and daughter Ailene of Macedonia, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Laird Riffer and Mr. and Mrs. Elias Riffer of Greenville, Pa.; Mrs. Ray Clark, Mrs. Fairy Chester of Toledo, and Mrs. Bertha Farison of Forrest, Ohio."
