Barry Alan Simmons, 60, formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at St. John's Hospital, in Springfield.
Barry was born in Hillsboro, on October 3, 1951, to Pearl (Elam) and Cleo Simmons.
He was an Air Force veteran who served in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict. He loved animals, the outdoors and gardening.
He is survived by five brothers and sisters; a host of nieces and nephews; his children, Sabrina Simmons, Rebecca Simmons, Holley Simmons, Sean Simmons and Jason Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Fern Jackson and grandson, Malaki Simmons.
Military rites will be held on Friday, February 17, at 10 a.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
