Mrs. Gertrude Land Cowan of Atlanta was born July 5, 1907 in Cordele, GA to Judge Max E. Land and Gertrude Taylor Land. She attended Georgia State College for Women and Wesleyan College of Macon. She was a member of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution; a successor of the National Society, Magna Carta Dames. Mrs. Cowan was chosen as one of the southern belles to welcome guests at the southern premiere of "Gone with the Wind" in Atlanta. She was an elegant lady and a true southern belle. Survivors include: son, Fletcher Brown Quillian III and his wife Pamela, Atlanta and 2 grandchildren. Mrs. Cowan was preceded in death by her husbands, Fletcher Brown Quillian Jr. and Donald H. Cowan, both of Atlanta. Graveside services will be held today at 3 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park.
