Matthew Norton (c1860-aft1891) Worker (b. circa 1860, County Galway, Ireland - d. after 1891, possibly Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA)

He appears in two family documents. He was the best man at the wedding of Patrick J. Norton (1856-1905) and Sarah Jane Carr (1866-1950) in 1890. In 1891 he was the godparent for Patrick and Sara's son: Thomas Patrick Norton I (1891-1968).

In 1890 on the marriage certificate Matthew was listed as living at 12 Bright Street, Jersey City, New Jersey which is the same address as Pat Norton.

Funeral Notices:
Matthew is not mentioned in the obituary of Patrick or his brother John when they both died in 1905. He may be a sibling or a cousin. He has not been found in the Census or on any other documents.

Uncompleted Tasks:
The best strategy to find a record of his death may be to look in the NJ Archives for his death certificate prior to 1905 and to look in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City to find anyone buried there under that name.
