"Harold Claiborne was born September 17, 1928, in Trinidad, Colorado, the son of James Ernest Claiborne and Carmel Harmon Claiborne. He grew up in Coleman and attended Coleman High School. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corps and married Viola Phillips on April 9, 1948 in Cross Plains. Harold and Vi lived in Midland for 45 years, where he was a mechanical contractor. Following retirement, they moved back to Coleman. Harold was a member of the Men's Downtown Sunday School Class and First Baptist Church.
"Survivors include his wife, Viola (Vi) Claiborne of Coleman, four children, Patrick Michael Claiborne and wife, Kim, of Wichita Falls, Terry Dean Claiborne and wife, Shelia, of Midland, Patricia Lynn Cloud and husband, Jerry, of Horseshoe Bay, Kay White and husband, Stephen, of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
"He was preceded in death by two brothers, Curtis Claiborne, Jim Claiborne and one sister, Evelyn Claiborne Johnson.
"Family visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2011 at Stevens Funeral Home.
"Memorials may be sent to the Men's Downtown Sunday School Class, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
