The second marble quarry was opened by Eli Hudson in 1799, a few rods north of the quarry being worked by the Pittsford Company.
In 1814 Eli volunteered as a Private in the Plattsburgh Voluteers from Pittsford, to contest the advance of the Governor General of Canada, during the War of 1812.
