Born Johann Shalz in: Nova Lipa is a village to the northwest of Vinica in the Municipality of Črnomelj, Republic of Slovenia, was stabbed to death after an altercation in front of his nephews store Saturday night over a pair of shoes. John Shalz was born in Slovenia 37 years ago and came to this country 20 years ago and settled in Kansas where he has made his home up to the time of his death. Mr. Shalz was a good honest man and a prosperous farmer. The whole community sympathizes for him and his family in their time of trouble.
The funeral service was held at St. Joseph's Church with the Rev. Boilweg officiating. The remains were laid to rest at the Catholic cemetery.
