Cheryl Lynn Gross, 50, of Naples, passed away on February 7, 2012, peacefully at home, following a 17 month, hard fought battle with melanoma. Cheryl was born in Naples on December 6, 1961 and is a fourth generation native of Southwest Florida. After Cheryl graduated from Cypress Lake High School she married the love of her life, Joe, and soon started a family.
Cheryl attended Living Word Family Church. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family and friends. She loved the outdoors; fishing, bonfires, camping, shooting, and most of all sunsets. Cheryl was an active member of the Collier County Fair Board for the past ten years and loved every minute of it. The fair board was a part of her extended family.
Cheryl was a selfless woman who always put everyone's needs before her own. Benevolence, compassion, and love beamed out of her heart and soul. Cheryl taught many people what true strength really is. She never gave up hope and fought until the very end.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Joe Gross; three children, Robert, Danielle, and Ethan Gross; sisters, Kim (Kirby) Cameron of Ft. Myers, and Andrea Williams of Jupiter; nieces and nephews, Melissa Shipley, Brittany Evans, Jarrett Williams, and Alexis Cameron; numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and her parents.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, February 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Living Word Family Church, 10910 Immokalee Road, Naples FL 34120.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Cheryl's name to Living Word Family Church, or to the Collier County Fair's Life's Not 'Fair' Foundation, 751 39th Avenue NE, Naples, FL 34120.
