"Simon" was born in Heflin to Tabor Barrett Madden and Lizzie Reeves Madden on August 23, 1929. He departed this earth on Oct. 22, 2010 in Minden.

After working on the family farm in his youth, he graduated from Heflin High School and joined the Louisiana National guard. He married Dorothy Mildred Galloway and had two sons. Simon had an early natural ability to run heavy equipment and first worked for Harlan Beene in Bossier City. With his brother, Grady Madden, he continued his construction path until going into business for himself. Through the years, Simon worked to better himself and his family. He opened in 1971, Madden Supply and would have celebrated 40 years in business in February, 2011.

Simon was a charter member of the Sibley Lions Club. He had been in charge of the Sibley Water System. His love of music led him and his late wife Dot to perform with groups playing gospel music.

They also wrote music and received awards for their compositions. Simon was a faithful member of Baptist Tabernacle Church in Sibley.

Simon is survived by his sons, Jerry W. Madden and wife, Cindy and Michael B. Madden and wife, Mitzi Madden. He is survived by granddaughter, Jennifer Madden-Benamati and her children, Caden S. Madden, Baily R. Madden, Ashln E. Benamati, Gabriel S. Benamati, and Jacob S. Benamati; grandson, David C. Madden, wife Megan E. Madden and their son, Cooper A. Madden; grandson, Kevin D. Madden and granddaughter-in-law, Dani S. Madden and son, Jaxon Levi Madden. He is survived by his step-grandson, Ryan W. Hammontree.

He is survived also by his sisters, Marguerite Winter and Martha Woodard of Maui, Hawaii; sister-in-law, Johnnie Mae Madden; nephews, James Madden and wife, Lyda, Charles Madden and wife, Robbie, Sherry Barnett and wife, Sharon; nieces, Mary Beth Chumley and husband, Gary, Pamela Alexander, Denise Day, Patti Koch, Christie Evans, Emily Milbern, Claire Bockwith and their families. He is also survived by a special friend and companion, Judy Hedrick, who brought so much joy to his life; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, T. B. and Lizzie Madden; his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Madden; brother, Grady Madden; sister, Bonnie Mae Wiles and husband, Jay; and his grandson, Sgt. Joshua B. Madden, U. S. Army, KIA – Operation Iraqi Freedom.

A celebration of life service for Jimmie Wayne (Simon) Madden was held Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 at 2 p.m., at Rose Neath Chapel in Minden. Officiating was Bro. Steve Petty, Bro Leon Boggs and Bro. Donnie Cox, Sr. Interment followed at Bistineau Baptist Church Cemetery in Heflin. Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Rose Neath Chapel in Minden from 5 until 7 p.m.
