Murder victim. In order to keep their parents from finding out about their own impending parenthood, two 18-year-old college students, Amy Grossberg and Brian Peterson, secretly delivered their newborn baby in a motel room down the road from Amy's dorm at the University of Delaware. With Amy screaming at him to "get rid of it" and without checking to see whether the baby was alive or dead, Brian put the newborn into a large trash bag, carried it out to the motel's Dumpster, and tossed it in. After cleaning themselves up, they then returned to their respective colleges and went to their classes like nothing had happened. But an infection caused by the unsanitary delivery soon landed Amy in a hospital, where their secret was exposed. The police found the dead baby, and, shortly afterward, the two were arrested. At their trial, Amy received a 30-month sentence and Brian 24 months. Their baby never even received a name. His grave simply reads, "Always In Our Hearts." The case caused a nationwide sensation and was chronicled in the book, "Always In Our Hearts," by Doug Most.
