Fay Shaw Jones, age 96, of Mount Bethel Road, Greeneville, passed away Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, where she had made her home the past four years.
Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and the widow of Harry L. Shaw and Dwight "Tet" Jones.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She laughed easily and loved being with family and friends.
She was a member of First Church of God and attended as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include one daughter: Ava Ricker; grandchildren, who knew her as "Nanny": Tere Ricker and Angell Berry and husband, Robert; four great-grandchildren: Tara Ricker, Lacie Berry, Amy Wolfert, and Timmy Hawk; five great-great-grandchildren: Tana Ricker, Emily Ricker, Eli Harley, Abby Wolfert, and Noah Hawk; three special nieces: Carolyn Bowman Parman, Agnes Harrison, and Wanda Jones; and three special nephews: Brian Combs, Kenneth Shaw, and Kline Jones.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents: James Homer Bowman and Dove Emily Reaves Bowman Combs; her stepfather: E.T. "Hoot" Combs; three brothers: Denver Bowman, G.W. Combs, and J.T. Combs; and five sisters: Claudia Laws, who was a special sister, Selma Susong, Maude Russell, Georgia Sluder, and Ellie Paris.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home with funeral services following at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Gerald Rudd and the Rev. Stephen Aiken will officiate.
Interment will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens.
Friends and family will serve as active pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Caris Healthcare
