Alfred L. Rawnsley, 73, died yesterday at Smyrna. His wife was the late Pearl M. Rawnsley.
A native of Wilmington, Mr. Rawnsley spent all of his life in this area. He was a 50-year member of Musicians' Local 311 and was a drummer in a number of bands throughout his lifetime, including the Old Friendship Band, the First Regiment Band and bands conducted by Norris Robinson.
He was a graduate of the Peabody Institute in Baltimore and a World War I veteran.
Mr. Rawnsley was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church on Grubb Road and was honorary head usher at the church.
Services will be tomorrow morning at 10:30 at St. David's Church. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery.
