Katherine Mansfield, 96, of Blueberry Lane, Mt. Sterling passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on March 30, 1918 the daughter of the late Robert E. and Effie Carpenter Wood. She was a seamstress and former Cowden’s Manufacturing employee and a member of the Rolling Hill Church of Christ. Katherine enjoyed cooking, baking cakes and candies and hosting people in her home. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and was an avid collector of red birds, cardinals and loved UK basketball. She was the widow of Robert E. Mansfield.

She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn (Cordell) Mansfield Conley of Mt. Sterling; Brenda (Jerry) Maloney of Jeffersonville, KY and Teresa (Daren) Ovington of Sharpsburg, KY; two sons, Robert Douglas Mansfield of Jeffersonville, KY and Paul Wood (Beverly) Mansfield of Mt. Sterlng; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Bradley (Danny) Gray, Michael Todd Mansfield, Lisa Michelle Mansfield, Denise Maloney (Jamie) Collins, Christopher Lee (Janene) Maloney, Ted Stuart Bradley, Paul Wood Mansfield, Jr., Julia Ann Mansfield Chandler and Lesley Marie Mansfield; one step grandchild, Lisa Conley (Lloyd) Nelson; sixteen great grandchildren, Maria Williams Hubbard, Tara Williams Henderson, Katie Lynn Gilvin, Skylar Aaron Mansfield, Christopher Lane Maloney, Madison Paige Collins, Morghan Elaine Chandler, Robert Phontaine “Paine” Mansfield, Kalib Logan Banks, Bailee Lynn Maloney, Devin Hunter Banks, Emilee-Grace Collins, Jacob Stuart Bradley, Dayleigh Paige Bradley, Sarah Elizabeth Mansfield and Mason Kade Price Stamper; two step great grandchildren, Lauren Nelson (Caleb) Williams and Luke Nelson; and two great grandchildren, Ella Grace Hubbard and Aidan Joseph Hubbard.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Mansfield Bradley; two brothers, Herman Clay Wood, and Robert Ezekiel Wood, II; four sisters, Juanita Wood Sorrell, Naomi Wood Wyatt, Thelma Wood Hart and Laura Wood Jacobs; and one great-great grandchild, Andrew Hubbard.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Rolling Hills Church of Christ with Revs. Lowell Rice, Danny Murphy and Stephen Rogers officiating and burial following in the Machpelah Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday evening from 5-9 PM at the Rolling Hills Church of Christ. Taul Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers will be Doug Mansfield, Paul Mansfield, Mike Mansfield, Chris Maloney, Woody Mansfield and Stuart Bradley. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to St. Claire Hospice or Rolling Hills Church of Christ Camp.
