Ella Gooding, 78, Former Resident of County, Dies -- Mrs. Ella Woolley Gooding, 78, a native of Montgomery Co., died Sunday afternoon at her home in Shelbyville.
Born May 9, 1876, one mile south of Smartsburg, Mrs. Gooding was the daughter of Frank and Rachel Robertson Woolley. She married Charles Winford Gooding, April 3 1908. The husband died Feb 4, 1954.
Mrs. Gooding, a former resident of Wallace and Grange Corner in Parke Co., taught in Fountain Co for a number of years. She attended Wallace School and graduated from Danville Central Normal.
Mrs. Gooding was a member of the Wesley Methodist church. Her husband was a farmer in the Wesley community for a number of years. She also was a member of the daughters of Union veterans.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Thompson, Shelbyville and Mrs. Maurice Newman, Toronto, Canada; four grandsons, and two sisters, Mrs. Will Gray and Mrs. Cora Gray, both of near Wallace.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wesley Methodist Church, west of Crawfordsville, followed by burial at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Rev Guy E. Tremain, assisted by Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Friends may call at the Bright Funeral Home from noon Tuesday until noon Wednesday.
