Funeral services for Jo Beth Chapman Levine will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs with Rev. Pete Adrian, Rev. Debbie Riggsby and Rev. Charles Moore officiating.

Burial will follow at Tira Cemetery with David Gideon, Tony Abercrombie, Clay Hubbard, Robert Bowe, John Hipkins and Ray Knoteck serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Melby, Clyde Browning, Bob Gideon, Morris Wayne Abercrombie, George Davis Gideon, Gale Gabriel, Bobby Price, Huel Hammond, Bob Morrison, Dr. Darren Arnecke and members of the Messengers Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday, February 13, 2012, at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Mrs. Levine was born December 12, 1934, in Addran, Texas, the daughter of E. O. and Florene (Orr) Chapman.

She married Gerald Lee "Jerry" Levine on June 5, 1955, at First United Methodist Church.

Her husband preceded her in death on June 27, 2009, after 54 years of marriage.

Mrs. Levine received both her Bachelor's of Science and Master's of Education degrees from Texas A&M University in Commerce, Texas.

She was a teacher in public schools of Texas for 30 years. She taught one year at Yantis; 7 years at Sulphur Springs High School; and she was chairperson of the Business Department at Richardson High School for 22 years. She retired in 1988.

Mrs. Levine was an active member of First United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the Messengers Sunday School Class.

She was a past member of the Richardson Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Richardson Education Association, and the Captain David Phillips Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She will be remembered by friends and family for her notes and cards (Always early and always underlined!!!) sent on birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

Her laugh, sense of humor and fun made all our days brighter. Her crystal blue eyes and red hair made for "love at first sight" with her high school sweetheart and husband Jerry.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Lee Levine, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, and by David Chapman Levine and wife, Barbara, and one granddaughter, Emma Elizabeth Kay Levine of Plano.

She is also survived by a sister, Judy Gillem and her husband, Jerry Don Gillem, of Sulphur Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews; brother-in-law Alan Levine and family; and sister-in-law Janice Nichols and family. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one brother and sister-in-law Billy Frank and Billie Rose Chapman.
