TWO YOUNG SONS OF DEAD MAN TAKEN TO COUNTY CHILDREN'S HOME

Although the questioning of Mrs Fannie Friend, wife of John Friend, and her alleged lover, Owen Hall, was continued Thursday, little additional information as obtained by Sheriff A O Tracy and deputies conducting the investigation.

The fact that the man died from effects of the poison fully determined after the post-mortem examination, spurred the authorities on to complete the investigation and to determine whether or not death was suicide or murder.

An answer to the telegram sent to the Maillinkrodt Chemical Works of St Louis, was received by Sheriff Tracy Thursday afternoon shedding no light on desired information as to whom purchased the strychnine powder.

The company wired the sheriff that it was "impossible to advise to whom sold, number given covers stock number of our four hundred bottles," halting the investigation along that line temporarily.

Grillings of the pair held in the county jail will be resumed as soon as possible in the attempt to ascertain further information into the mysterious death of Friend.

Lawrence, 8 and Ricahrd 2, sons of John Friend, were committed to the Meigs County Children's Home Thursday afternoon by the probate court here upon the request of Friends relatives who said they were not financially able to support the children properly.

The youngsters presented a rather touching sight as they were led from the court room of the probate court to the waiting county car to be transported to the home both protesting loudly through cries while their aunt, who accompanied them to Pomeroy, wept as they departed. Mrs Friend sat in her jail cell and watched the proceedings as her two children were taken from the arms of the loving aunt to the home.

A Daily Tribune reported held the small two-year-old baby while he was being transported to the home, the youngster holding tightly to the reporter's neck as through not wishing to leave him. After a few comforting words, the children stopped their sobbing, taking notice of their surroundings both apparently satisfied that they were to be treated kindly, while the reporter and the deputy sheriff slipped away from them, unnoticed.

Sheriff Tracy said Friday that few clews had been obtainable from which to conduct the investigation but his work would continue at present until something has been definitely determined.
