Many years later, upon his retirement from Bell Telephone Co - Herald & his wife Mary traveled extensively throughout the United States gaining notice as accomplished and gifted lapidary experts, and were quite well known for their knowledge of stones and their stone cutting, as well as jewelry making; in addition to being highly skilled photographers. After over 15 years of travel, the Conner's chose to settle in Fredericksburg, Texas, just a few hours drive from thier daughter Evelyn in Cleburne.
