Mabel Berniece Shaw, 97, Greentown, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at Century Villa Nursing Home, Greentown. Berniece was born in Cyclone on Nov. 1, 1914, to the late William and Margaret Benge. She married Alton Leroy Show on April 6, 1933, in Kokomo. Alton preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 2003.
Berniece, along with her husband, owned and operated Shaw Poultry for 25 years, and the Tote-A-Poke Restaurant and the laundromat in Greentown.
She loved to play the piano and organ and taught many to play. She was very competitive in all she did. She bowled in several leagues and loved to play Euchre and shoot pool.
She was a member of Eagles Nest Baptist Church in Fruitland Park, Fla.
Survivors include daughter, Virginia Ostrander, Lancaster, Ohio; sons, Raymond and Gary (Ruth), Greentown, Terry (Ginger), Swayzee, and Rex (Doris), Leesburg, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, and 36 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Cronan; son-in-law, John Cronan; son-in-law, James Roach; daughter-in-law, Janice Shaw; grandchild, Kenny Cook; five brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh Cemetery, Fruitland Park, Fla.
Hite Funeral Home, Kendallville, and Byers Funeral Home, Lady Lake, Fla., are in charge of arrangements.
