Dr. Anne W. Fearn
Berkeley, Calif., April 29 (AP) - Dr. Anne Walter Fearn, 71, for 44 years a physician in China, died yesterday just two weeks after publication of her book, "My Days of Strength."
A native of Holly Springs, Miss., she defied tradition for a southern belle of that time period by entering medical school. She went to China in 1893 and established a sanitarium at Shanghai. She said she delivered 6,017 babies during her career in the Orient.
She retired last year. Her ashes will be sent to China.
