"DAVID S. DUMLER DIES; FUNERAL SET WEDNESDAY
David S. Dumler, 81, 557 E. 1st Street, a prominent Co. farmer died at about 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the Russell City Hospital where he had been a patient since March 1 when he returned from undergoing treatment at the University of KS Medical Center. He had been in failing health for several months.
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church after a family service at 1:30 p.m. in Pohlman's Russell Mortuary Memorial Chapel. Rev. R. G. Sedo will officiate.
Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Born Jan 18, 1887 in Blumenfeldt, Russia, he came to Russell Co. with his parents at the age of five.
He was married Feb. 25, 1913, to the former Carrie Strecker, who survives him. She is a resident of Homestead Villa, Hoisington.
The Dumlers farmed in the Pioneer Community, southeast of Russell, until 1940 when they moved to Russell.
Other survivors are: a daughter, Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Dietz, Otis; two sons, Paul and Carl, of Russell; a brother, George A., and sister Mrs. Katie Maier, both of Russell, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A son, Earnest, died in infancy. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
A memorial in his name has been established for the St. John Lutheran Church carillon fund."

David S. Dumler, son of Jacob and Katherine (Beck) Dumler, was born on January 18, 1887, at Blumenfeldt, Russia, He passed away on March 17, 1968 at the age of 81 years, 1 month and 29 days. David came to the United States with his parents as a small boy and settled in the Pioneer community, where he grew to manhood. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Jacob Jr., Emanuel (sic) and Alex and one sister, Mrs. Kristina Reissig. Survivors are a brother George A. Dumler and a sister, Mrs. Katie Maier, both of Russell.
Carrie Strecker, daughter of August and Mollie (Milberger) Strecker, was born October 18, 1889 at Kankton, South Dakota. She passed away on March 18, 1968 at the age of 78 years and 5 months. She came to the Russell area as a baby with her parents. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. J. R. Wolf. Survivors are two brothers, Alex and Ed Strecker of Russell; four sisters, Mrs. George Reed of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Mrs. Emanuel Tittel and Mrs. David Bay of Russell and Mrs. George J. Dumler of Salina.
David and Carrie were united in marriage on February 25, 1913 at Russell and made their home on the farm in the Pioneer community. This union was blessed with one daughter Alvina, three sons, Paul, Carl, and Ernest who died as an infant. Their life was centered around the activities of the family, the farm and the church. They were confirmed members of St. John Lutheran Church and continued an active interest in the church throughout their lives. David retired from the farm early in life and they moved to Russell in 1941 where he could better care for his wife Carrie. They, however, maintained a keen interest in the farming activities.
They are survived by their daughter, Mrs. Carl (Alvina) Dietz of Otis, KS; two sons Paul E. and Carl A., Russell; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
