Harold Alfred Marshall, son of Alfred Earl Marshall and Flora Belle (Clark) Marshall was born July 5, 1933 in Knox Township in Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 78 years of age.

Harold grew up on a farm near Weldon, attended country school, and graduated from Osceola High School in 1951. After graduation he worked for the Iowa Highway Patrol. He met Eileen Shellhart while living and working in Grinnell and they were married on January 27, 1956. They had two daughters and farmed near Weldon. During those years he also farmed with his parents. In addition, Harold worked for Osceola Veterinary Clinic for many years, for American Breeders Service, and Auto Assemblies in Lamoni, Osceola, and Murray. He also worked with Dr. Gary Fisher in his veterinary practice in Winterset.

He later lived in Missouri, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico before returning to Osceola in the early 2000s to be closer to family. While living in the West, Harold was employed on ranches where he led trail rides, guided hunting parties, and moved cattle. He later worked at Old Tucson Studios where he cared for the livestock and drove the stagecoach for events and parades. He was excited to give Miss Universe a stagecoach ride. He also appeared on Good Morning America while driving the coach for ABC reporter Charlie Gibson and crew.

Harold was a member of the Clarke County Sheriff's Posse and the Osceola Eagles Club and he served on the Clarke Community School Board. He loved nature and especially the mountains. He greatly enjoyed riding horses and working cattle. His interest in cattle breeding innovations led him to learning and practicing artificial insemination techniques and teaching it to others. When not outdoors, he spent time reading and working on woodworking projects.

One of Harold's greatest joys was spending time with the grandkids, taking them fishing, having wiener roasts, and building stilts.

Those relatives who preceded Harold in death were his parents, Alfred and Flora and his granddaughter, Alexis Keara Baughman.

Harold leaves to cherish his memory; daughters, Brenda Wickett and her husband Robert of New Virginia and Sheryl Lane of Leon; sister, Etiwanda Poush of Woodburn; grandchildren, Brian Wickett and wife Misty of New Virginia, Sarah Adams and husband Joel of Winterset, Nathan Wickett of New Virginia and Jake Parmer of Abbeville, Mississippi; great grandson, Devin Adams of Winterset as well as other relatives and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be directed to his family for a fitting memorial to be decided at a later date.

Memorial Visitatiion will be 1:00-3:00 Saturday afternoon, December 10, 2011 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Iowa.

No services are planned.

Burial of cremains will be at Murray Cemetery at a later date.
