Born in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Joel Shearer and Phoebe Blackwell. Married Joseph Warthen in 1841. After his death (in 1852), she married David A. Curtis.

Children: Albert Burgess Warthen, Brigham Heber Warthen (Worthen), Harriet Lutitia Warthen, Mary Ann Olive Warthen, William Joseph Warthen, Maria Jane Curtis, Phoebe Elizabeth Curtis, David Avery Curtis, Jr.
