GOTHENBURG -- Bessie Schleeman Spray, 92, died Monday (March 1, 2004) at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg.
She was born Oct. 13, 1911, to Homer and Eva Dettra Robinson in Stockville. She graduated from the Nebraska School of Agriculture at Curtis in 1929.
On June 13, 1929, she married Richard "Dick" Schleeman in McCook. Dick preceded her in death in 1969.
On July 24, 1970, she married Robert Spray. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1971.
She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary and the Curtis Congregational Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; one daughter, Jean; one son, Marvin; three brothers, Dyal, Glen and Kenneth; and infant grandson and infant great-grandson.
Survivors include two sons, Darwin and wife, Merna of Ogallala and Ronald and wife, Geri of Las Vegas, Nev.; step-daughter, Dorothy Hopkins of McCook; daughter-in-law, Elaine Schleeman of Culbertson; son-in-law, Ron Herman of Brady; one brother, Orville and wife, Betty Robinson of Lyons; two sisters-in-law, Alta Robinson of Newport, Minn., and Eloise Robinson of San Antonio, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 2 p.m., at the Congregational Church in Curtis with the Rev. Richard Sykes officiating. Interment is in the Curtis Cemetery.
Visitation is Wednesday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m., at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
