Kathleen L. Cooper, of Bloomfield, MI, beloved wife of Harold for 71 years, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012.

Kathleen was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 12, 1917 to the late William and Sarah McMahon (nee Somerville). She attended St. Leo's school before graduating from Northwestern High School in Detroit.

It was at the roller skating rink where she would meet the love of her life, Harold Cooper. The two would marry in 1941 and begin a wonderful life together. Kathleen was a wonderful wife and homemaker for her family. One of her fondest memories as a family was spending a couple weeks over Labor Day every year at the same place in South Hampton, Ontario where golf and family time went hand in hand. Many memories were created over the 40 years they spent there as a family.

In her free time, Kathleen enjoyed playing golf, and she was always known to make birthday parties special with a themed cake. She created cakes that looked like cruise ships, grand pianos, race cars, and golf balls just to name a few. She also enjoyed shopping with the girls. She and Harold made many friends traveling with groups of people all over the world as part of the management club through Chrysler, Corp. of which her husband was a member. They saw all of Europe, China, and Australia. They also enjoyed a trip on their own to England to see her husband's roots, and on the way home had a memorable trip home across the Atlantic Ocean on the Queen Mary back to New York.

Her faith and her family were the two most important things in her life. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Kathleen is survived by her husband of 71 years, Harold. She was the loving mother of the late John William Cooper (Laura Cooper Sanders). Devoted grandmother of Jack (Carrie) and Max, and great- grandmother of Allison. Dear sister of the late Raymond McMahon, Eleanor Bosman, and Harold McMahon. Loving aunt of numerous nieces nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
