CHARLES MARKHAM OF HENDERSON DIES AFTER EXTENDED ILLNESS - FUNERAL TOMORROW AFTERNOON
Charles Markham, an old and respected resident of Henderson, died yesterday afternoon at 5:25 o'clock following an illness of two months with a complication of diseases. Mr. Markham lived in the same house, a mile east of Henderson, for 77 years, moving there with his parents at the age of six years from La Porte County, Indiana, where he was born April 1, 1833. He was the eighth of eleven children of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Markham.

Mr. Markham was a faithful member of the Christian Church. He was a good farmer and accumulated a considerable estate.

Of the large Markham family, only one sister survives - Mrs. Sarah A. West of Portland, Oregon, who came to Henderson last week because of the serious illness of her brother. Her son, R.M. West, came with her. Besides these relatives, the deceased leaves a niece, Mrs. W.E. Arnold, who had kept house for him at Henderson for 22 years; and the following nephews and nieces: Clarence B., Charles L., G.A., and W.F. Markham of Henderson; Minnie Remington of Phelps, WI, Charles L. Johnson of Henderson; G.H. West of Medford, OR; Mrs. T.O. Sweeney of Tacoma, WA, and Mrs. E.W. Fletcher of Castle Rock, WA.

The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Henderson with Rev. N.T. Allen officiating.
