Louisa was brought to the U.S. as a little girl with her older sister Elisabeth by her parents, Ludwig 'Lewis' Hoffman and his wife Julia during the great German migration of the 1840's/50's. They set up home in Wheeling WV where Louisa met Philip Dollmeyer. They wed on Sept. 23, 1859 and moved to Charleston WV. They had a total of 8 children, 3 of whom died in youth and who lay to the left of their parents graves. My Grandfather, John Dollmeyer (born 1905) loved Sauerbraten, a german dish of marinated beef and years later his wife cooked it for him and his daughter, my Mother cooked it for me, no doubt as a result of Louisa Dollmeyer cooking it for her grandson John.
