Frances Marie Weed

Frances Marie Weed, 88, of Midland City, died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Flowers Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services to pay tribute to our loving, dedicated and hardworking Mother will be held 11 am Tuesday at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Bo Weed officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm on Monday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Sandi and Mikie Walding, 3971 Headland Ave., Dothan, Alabama.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Glenn Weed; youngest daughter, Kellie Marie Northrop; parents Otto and Coner Jenkins; and brother Tom Jenkins.

Marie was born on December 22, 1923. She married Glenn Weed in March, 1941, and the union produced a legacy of 12 children, 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to raising a large family, Marie was involved in the family's farming operation. Later she worked 25 years as a Machine Operator for Dothan Hosiery Mill. After a year-long stint at Akwell Industries, Marie joined Sony Magnetic Products Inc. and retired from there after ten years of outstanding service. She was of the Baptist Faith.

Left behind to fondly cherish her memory are her children: Glenda Ann Crumpler, Midland City, Glenn Weed (Betty Jeanne), Dothan, Judy Bowden, Phoenix, AZ, Mary Sinquefield (Doug), Ashford, Martha Waltz (Greg), Newton, Ronnie Weed (Carole), Midland City, Douglas Weed (Starla), Dothan, Nancy Pomrenke (Bob), Jacksonville, FL, Sandi Walding (Mikie), Dothan, Bo Weed (Marilyn), Troy, and Roger "Pete" Weed (Cindi), Midland City.

Also surviving are Marie's brothers and sisters: Bill Jenkins, Earl Jenkins, Nell Raley, Lucille Screws and Betty Bell.

Acting Pallbearers will be grandsons Derrick Sinquefield, Kyle Walding, Josh Weed, Leslie Weed, Lucas Weed and Travis Weed. Marie's remaining grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

Flowers will be accepted or contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 2346 W. Main St, Suite 3, Dothan, AL 36301 or Autism Society of Alabama, 4217 Dolly Ridge Road, Birmingham, AL 35243.
