He was a lifelong Duluth resident and a 1935 graduate of Denfeld High School. He received training in Fort Knox to serve overseas in World War II as a battalion motor sergeant for the 12th Armored Division of the U.S. Army. Mr. Holman was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a federal meat inspector, retiring in 1983 after 35 years of service. He married Jean Carlson on June 30, 1956, in Duluth.
He was a member of VFW Post 137 and American Legion Post 71. His hobbies included baseball, fishing, bowling and "giving people a bad time."
His parents were Amund and Karen Holman. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Hans, Tony and Ole; and a sister, Lillian Marlow.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; a daughter, Lisa (Mel) Kauma of Coon Rapids; sons Chris and Joel (Christine), both of Duluth; sisters Anna Gundry and Mabel Peterson, both of Duluth; grandchildren Melissa, Olivia and Joanna; and many nieces and nephews.
His presence at the table will be missed, but his fun spirit will enrich us forever.
