COUNCIL BLUFFS Ethel M. Grandick, age 82, passed away October 6, 2009. Ethel was born in Clinton, Iowa, on July 4,1927, to Ralph E. and Naomi (Weitzell) Hoover. She graduated from Clinton High in 1946 and on November 20,1948, Ethel was united in marriage to Albin J.Grandick. During her life, Ethel taught infant toddler swimming at the Y.M.C.A., volunteered as a musician at the Historic Trails Museum, playing her accordion and along with husband, Albin spent 36 winters in Texas. Ethel loved her family dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Richard and Allen Hoover.Survivors include her husband of almost 61 years, Albin; daughter, Mary Jo Foss and husband, James, of Liberty Lake, Washington; sons, Michael and wife, Marsha, of Underwood, Daniel and wife, Sally, Charles and James all Council Bluffs; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Hoover and wife, Shirley, of Gainesville,Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.Visitation with the family, Thursday 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services Friday 10:00 a.m., all at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home, Council Bluffs. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. Family has suggested memorials to Hospice of Southwest Iowa and Historic Trails Museum. Death date: Oct. 6, 2009
