OSBORNE, Eunetta R., 91, of Wytheville (Maplecrest Farm, Mount Vale, Grayson County), died on Thursday, January 27, 2000, at Asbury Center at Birdmont, Wytheville. she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hale Osborne and Hattie Martin Osborne of Grayson County and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, M. Jane McCarthy, V. Ruth Osborne, Thomas Emmett Osborne, Clinton F. Osborne, Frank Osborne, and Fred Osborne. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Pearl Osborne of Galax, and Mamie Osborne of Galax,
Mary Osborne of Newark, Del.; nephews, Frank Hale Osborne of Galax, Thomas Emmett Osborne, Jr. of Norfolk, Don Osborne of Landenberg, Pa., and Thomas J. McCarthy, Jr. of Pulaski; nieces, Jane Dunbar of Beaufort, S. C., Betty Kelly of Wytheville, and Virginia Carrey of Dobb's Ferry, N. Y.; as well as great nieces and nephews and a wide collection of friends. Miss Osborne received her B. S. Degree from Radford College and her M. A. Degree from Teacher's College, Columbia University, and was employed from 1952 to her retirement in 1969 as a Social Studies teacher with the Alexandria, Virginia School System. She also held teaching positions in Bartley, W. Va., teaching at Bartley Junior High School, the Grayson County School System and the
Pulaski County School System. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. As a final expression of her lifelong interest and work in education, Miss Osborne had directed that her body be delivered to the Virginia Anatomical Division for purposes of medical and scientific study. A memorial service will be held at the Mount Vale Methodist Church, Galax, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that those who desire may provide a more lasting memorial by making an appropriate contribution to the Mount Vale Methodist Church Memorial Fund. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
