Mrs. Jennie Viola Barkley of 647 Hillcrest, who was affectionately known to her neighbors as 'Aunt Jennie,' died at 4:20 yesterday afternoon at St. Joseph Hospital where she had been a patient a week. Services for Mrs. Barkley, who was 83, will be at 4 this afternoon at National Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Born in Hardeman County, Tenn., she had lived in Memphis since she was a small girl. She was a Baptist. Her husband, Thomas B. Barkley, a timberman, died 20 years ago. She leaves a stepdaughter, Mrs. J.D. Hutcheson of Douglasville, Ga.; a half-sister, Mrs. J.O. Hamilton, and a half-brother, Abner M. Chambers, both of Memphis.
