GREENFIELD--J.C. Johnson, 87, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield.

He was born August 24, 1924 in Baxter, TN, to the late Virgil Delton and Jimmie Fuqua (Evans) Johnson.

He retired from MEG in Cambridge City following 28 years of service and was also a farmer for 30 years. He restored old hay wagons and other farm equipment.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Johnson of Losantville; children, Rebecca Adkins of Greenwood, Priscilla (husband-J.R.) Crotchers of Liberty, TX, Steven Joe (wife-Lori) Johnson of Modoc, Ginger Fritts of Winchester, and Jane (husband-Jim) Denney of Winchester; stepchildren, Louise Hicks of Hagerstown, Barbara (husband-Tom) Like of Kirkland, IN, Mitchell Edwards of Cambridge City, Bobby (wife-Misty) Edwards of New Castle, and Billy Edwards of OH; brother, Evans Barnell "Barney" (wife-Dorothy) Johnson of Losantville, Willie (wife-Barbara) Johnson of Dalton, IN, and James Albert Johnson of WV; sister, Jessie Barnett of Birdsville, KY; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great-grandchild; siblings, Joe Ray Johnson and Rada May Cope; and son-in-law, John Adkins.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2012 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Reverend Phil Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
