FRANK SMITH, COLORADO CITY RANCHER DIES
COLORADO CITY ~~ Frank M. Smith, Sr. 76, one of Colorado City's best known old time cattleman, died at 5 p.m. Friday in Root Memorial Hospital here.
He had undergone surgery for a throat ailment which he had suffered for the past three months.
He was a retired rancher and had lived in Mitchell County the last 63 years. He was born September 2, 1873, in Hannibal, Missouri. He moved with his family the late Mr. and Mrs. Matt Smith to Waxahachie.
For many years he was associated with John Lane, now of Brownwood, in business operations at the old city of Iolanthe in Sterling County.
Mr. Smith married the former Margie Ida Ellis in April 1910. She was the daughter of John Ellis, West Texas pioneer.
Funeral arrangements are pending, but the service will probably be held Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Kiker and Son Funeral Home.
The Reverend J. E. Shewbert is to officiate, he is pastor of the First Methodist Church here.
Burial is to be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Survivors are the widow and three children: two sons, John Ellis Smith of Andrews and Frank M Smith, Jr., of Fort Stockton: one daughter Mrs. Jim Beller, Albuquerque, New Mexico: one sister, Mrs. Tom Henderson of Colorado City, and four grandchildren.
