NAPPANEE - Paul Eugene Dougherty, age 79, of Nappanee, died at 5:25 am, Friday, February 10, 2012 at Bremen Community Hospital. He was born November 30, 1932 in Marshall County to Noble and Fern Haney Dougherty. He married Mary Lou Klotz May 14, 1961 at Millwood Chapel. Paul was a graduate of Bremen High School and Manchester College with a Business Degree. In 1954 Paul started working at the State Bank of Nappanee the day after his graduation from college. Through mergers, he worked at 1st National Bank of Elkhart and retired from Ameritrust Bank in 1990. Paul was a member of the Living Gospel Church in Nappanee. He had served at Millwood Chapel Church as a deacon and held many other offices while a member there. He was a charter member of Nappanee Rotary Club. He served on the Union Twp. Board and was a Union 72nd precinct committeeman. He served on the Wa-Nee Bible Release Time Association for many years. Paul was an active member of the Nappanee Gideon Camp of Gideons International. Surviving is his wife, Mary Lou Dougherty; sons, John (Lorene) Dougherty of Nappanee & Greg (Abby) Dougherty of Tampa, FL; a daughter, Kathleen (Rocky) Enfield of Elkhart; and 9 grandchildren, Sarah, James, Lee, and Jacob Dougherty of Nappanee, Jackson and Virginia Dougherty of Tampa, FL, and Jordan, Amelia, and Ian Enfield of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Annie Kate Enfield; a brother, Stanley LaMar Dougherty; and sisters, Anna Lou Bibler and Virginia Dougherty. Family and friends may call from 2-8 on Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for 1 hour prior to the 2:00 pm Funeral Service, Monday, February 13, 2012 at Living Gospel Church in Nappanee. Rev. Mike Raasch, pastor at Living Gospel Church, and Rev. Michael Rodgers, his former Pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery.
