Former owner of the Palace Laundry and Dry Cleaning firm in Washington, D.C. which he bought from George Preston Marshall in 1946. Yeah, that one. Marshall brought the Redskins to D.C. from Boston back in the 1930s. Having served with Mr. Marshall at Camp (now Fort) Meade (near Laurel, Md.) during WW I, they retained a friendship long afterwards. In fact, it was a business venture (the laundry) of Marshalls which got Mr. Chevalier to work with Mr. Marshall in 1928. The offices of the the Washington Redskins NFL franchise were in the same building as the laundry at the time. Chevalier retired from the laundry in 1965. After he went to work with Marshall, he became a trusted associate and confidant. He also helped some of the players to find jobs in the off-season.
