Aaron was the son of Clayborne & Miranda (Trabue) Cheatham., b. in 1854, in Viroqua, Vernon Co., WI., Prior to 1854, Viroqua was Bad Ax, Crawford Co.,

According to "The Early History of the Minnesota Territory, in Winona County" Clayborne, & his brother Demetrius, were among the first men to go into the MN. Territory, in the Winter of 1855., to scout out new lands for crops.

The following Spring of 1856, is when the family moved into the Minnesota Territory, settling near Utica, in Winona County., MN., The move from Viroqua to Utica, was roughly 8 miles.

Aaron's mother Miranda (Trabue) Cheatham,
died from consumption, shortly after arriving in the Minnesota Territory.,
On the 26th of April 1856, her interment was at the Mount Auburn / Sloan Cemetery.

Aaron's father Clayborne Cheatham, quickly remarried in the same year, to Caroline Fry, in Winona County, MN.

The children born to Clayborne & Miranda,
were Jasper, Emma, John & Aaron.

On Sept. 21, 1857, Clayborne, & new wife Caroline, we're listed on the MN. Territorial Census.,
Aaron then Age: 3.

In 1860, in Winona Co., Clayborne along with his children from his first marriage, w/ wife Caroline & their children from their marriage in (1856), were listed on the (1860) Census, their eldest dau., was Mary Lucretia Cheatham, b. 1858.
