Born in Baton Rouge Louisiana on June 6, 1937 to the late Howard Jr. and Gladys Dedrick. She moved to California in 1945. Gladys received her wings on December 15, 2011. In life she extended her love and nurturing ability outside of her birth children. Gladys was a respected community service agent, as mother of many children in need. Once in her home she was mom or mama and not foster parent. Gladys not only opened her home but her heart and adopted two of the many foster children she cared for. Gladys McFarland was an early participant in the National Association of Business & Professional Women in Sonoma County Loving mother of Debra McFarland, Susan and (Husband) Vincent Ellison, Gregory McFarland, Rodney and (wife) Tina Lacy, Joshua McFarland, Lindsey McFarland and the late Yolanda Sharifi. Grandmother of eleven, great grandmother of one. Sister to Howard Dedrick III, Wilbert Dedrick, Charles Dedrick, Joyce Ann Dedrick and the late Harold Dedrick and Carolyn Houston. Niece to Marjorie Beavers; aunt of a host of nieces and nephews. Also survived by her dear friend Leanne Hewitt. Visitation will be held December 20, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on December 21, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Eggen & Lance Chapel, 1540 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA. Interment following; at Santa Rosa Memorial Park 1900 Franklin Ave Santa Rosa, CA. Reception following Interment 2470 Appletree Dr., Santa Rosa, CA.
